I have seen the details that you have mentioned and I am really glad to know you are very passionate about Google Search Ranking and definitely why not because organic results are always better.
You clearly defined that you have 12 different domains that includes search keywords in the name. You are ranking at number 5 on first page of Google UK SERP too, for 12 keywords but rests of all are far away. The practice you have done before to buy the domains was really great and worthy to appreciate.
My questions:
1-When you have purchased that domain? (Please let ne know the age of domain)?
2-Is all domains are fresh? New only? or re-circulated?
3-Which kind of business you are targeting for?
4-How about the competition for the industry you are targeting?
5-Have you checked the domain history before to purchase?
How you should work:
Now the search engine promotion is not an easy job for anybody specially for those who are very new in this field. The day by day Google becomes very crucial for the webmasters and small business owners, but it does not means that everything is over. If we are an intelligent enough to understand the new search pattern, updates, behavior, promotion techniques and rules of Google Search Engine then would not be anything impossible for us.
What to do –
1-Do not be hurry while promoting the website; be steady and accurate.
2-Find good platform to work on it.
3-Regular monitory of GA and WMT is very important.
4-Always read top search engine blogs like – MOZ.com, SEJ.com, SEL.com etc.
5-Be updated with Google Updates.
What not to do –
1-Do not be hurry while creating the backlinks for your sites.
2-Do not avoid SEO related issue of your sites.
3-Do not use submission tools for – Directory & Article etc.
4-Must not duplicate the content, stuff the titles and duplicate the image for a site.
5-Keep away from black-hat techniques.
How to start:
-As Google always said, your website should be informational first then after for business. Always create the design which is user friendly and search engine friendly both. The content over the pages must be informative and unique. Images and videos should be original. All that stuffs are very necessary because that keeps your site bounce rate low and low bounce rate will help to boost your keyword & increases CTR values.
-Note website caching date every time and check the text format of your site. Need to examine caching behavior of Google, is GoogleBot able you crawl your whole page or not? Is your content is readable for Crawler? Your page was successfully crawled or not? Etc.
-Meta Titles should accurate and good enough to rank. Keyword tags are not important anymore but always keep because it is very important to maintain keyword density on the page.
-The site interlinking is important – design good navigation which is readable for GoogleBot and can be crawled easily also easy to understandable for users.
-Alt naming is equally important – do not miss any image that has no alt name attribute. You have keep alt name for a single dot, arrows, border etc, each and every image must contain proper alt name.

-Try to distribute one Press Release every month, even better if you had paid press release because your release will be syndicated over high PR News Sites.
-Publish PDF if you have a kind of offers and special services.
-Use some paid directories to submit your website home page like – gdirectory, yahoo directory.
-Find top business submission directories to submit about your company – UKDirectory, 192 and Allinlondon etc.
-If it is possible you can create Wikipedia page for your company.
-Use some paid news software where you can publish your articles on top authority new sites.
-Participate in discussion and forum related to your business only.
-Use Facebook, Googleplus, Twitter and Linkedin to gather additional traffic and user attention.
-Use Youtube and Metacafe video platforms to upload valuable videos related to your business, company and offers.
