Enquiries Seem Imbalanced For Some Profile Records

I have a site which is a directory site for law firms that practice property tax appeals.

Just as background, the subscribers (law firms) create a profile for perspective clients to read. Included in this profile is a link to their web site. I have a contact form on within their profile.

I have a very interesting occurrence in that I have one subscriber that does not have a web site, however this subscriber has the most contact form requests sent to them...many many many more. Last time I calculated this firm was getting about 11% of visits resulted in a contact form submission.

All of the submissions seem to be legitimate (by the information and questions asked).

There does not seem to be anything different from the other profiles, the only discernible difference is the absence of a link to a web site.

Anyone wish to offer an opinion on this?

perhaps your site is well optimized for the name and more importantly in other cases visitors might prefer to follow the link to the providers' sites and make contact there .

Thanks for your reply. I like to think I have the site optimized well, but the question really comes down to since the visitor had no web site to click away to, they seemed to fill in the contact form.

BTW, this profile is not the only one on the page, in fact some of the other profiles offer more information.

So now it comes down to, is less more?

BTW. This is my first visit to the site, is this the best forum for this type of discussion.

If your business model is to track leads sent, you should track other channels of communication.

Are you tracking how many of your visitors navigate to other sites via your links to those sites? If not, perhaps you should if that information is important to you.

Similarly, do you include phone numbers? As I remember from various trade shows, there are systems that will allow you to set up tracking numbers, to let you follow leads sent that way.

Putting myself in the shoes of visitors to your site... for a great variety of reasons I would almost always prefer to use a direct link to the websites listed, or to make direct contact, rather than to fill out a form. Bad experience with forms over the years makes me dislike using them.

You might also want to consider how user-friendly your form is... whether, eg, it asks for too much information, and also whether it's compatible with auto-fill features available on some toolbars and browsers. All of this can be a factor.
