Hello,
Anybody know how big players like e.g. ehow or stackoverflow promote their businesses ? This seems to be very interesting question to me , what channels they used to drive initial traffic to their sites.

Big players - TV, posters, all the classic channels. They don't want people to look for them on line, they want people to go straight there without being distracted. Simples!

One word PR. I disagree anything south of $500 million in turnover generally they rely heavily on PR more than any other form of marketing. I have an agency background so know how they get publicity.
