Hello
I would appreciate a few thoughts on this if possible?
I am working on a website that is trying to compete with many information based websites.
The info-based sites are generally not particularly well made, but have been around for years, and are good knowledge banks so have generated huge numbers of back links - most up to multiple hundreds often from respectable sites.
Our site uses a completely novel (and IMHO much much better) way of finding information on the site and also has an equally good and often better amount and quality of information on the topics.
So, my question is - how can I begin to rank well against these sites, when they have so many links going in to them?
Are there any other ranking factors that can overcome the value of hundreds of links for a noticeable short term affect, while undertaking the inevitable links campaign for the long run?
I hope this makes sense?
