Exact keyword and synonyms

Hello,

I've read that search engines not only show results with the exact keyword but also ones with synonyms. For example if a user searches for "apple computer" (with quotation marks) they show also results with "apple pc". Is this really true?

I thought the quotation marks would tell the search engine that one looks ONLY and EXACT for the phrase inside them and NOT for a synonym.

I am agree with albert0346, quotation marks is used to find out exact search result. So, I think synonyms result will not appear.

quotation marks are used to refine your search and to make the search engine more efficient... if you notice 'apple computer' and 'apple pc' can be lie in the same category so i think its not an issue to search for both

I don't want to search for both. I get pages with "apple pc" even when I search only for "apple computer" with quotation marks.

I'm wondering if you are misunderstanding the display of "related search" and "suggested search" results. Some of the results you see might have both phrases on the page.
