I haven't been able to find an answer to this question. I know that there is a great deal of importance in getting relevant incoming links from other websites to increase your websites search rankings, but does the

Google Search

itself count as a "link"?

The reason why I ask this question-
I have been monitoring the search results for specific keywords pertaining to my website, and have noticed minor changes in the search rankings (in one case the website went from 6th ranking to 3rd, and another from 6th the 4th). No changes have been made to the website whatsoever, and I am looking for a justification as to why this happened.
