Search Engine performance for small sites

only a couple of pages site to perform in search engines

Hi,

Lately I have been getting clients that their sites are from 5 to 13 pages long and I have been doing all the tricks on the book to make search engines like their sites (url, titles, metas, unique content, etc)

The problem per said is that these small sites are business and they are fighting against bigger sites and bigger business. Is it there something else to do? or this is one case where Goliath will kill David.

A note aside: I have at least one of those clients of mine using Google Adwords and it is working, but the PPC investment make the overhead even bigger.

Ideas are more than welcome.

Helps a lot to have other sites link to you for page rank.

Thank you for the quick response.

That is something I am currently working now, but in other to get good links back to your site it might be hard if you want to do it the "legal" way.

I have been also implementing social tools like facebook and twitter.

Do some reading in the Library sections of several forums here. Do NOT be put off by some of the dates of some posts --- many have timeless and very valuable information.

My favorite post here is Brette's 'Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone', I printed it out, read it MANY times, wrote many notes about my sites on it.
