Same Content, Different Web Sites

I have similar web sites that I run in different countries. I want to include some content on both of these web sites. If this content is exactly the same, will I get penalized for this? Will our rankings suffer? These sites run in different countries and target different users.

Do the search spiders distinguish the different versions of similar sites, exact content running in different counties?

if you are using different ccTLDs you shouldn't have a problem.

I think, you should not use same content on different sites whether it be for different countries. Google's translate parameter easily found that same content is on two sites in different languages.

These a piece of code you can put in the start and the end of any duplicate content that basically says this is duplicate content. dont index. You wont recieve any seo benifits for this but it'll stop you getting penalised.
I think i saw this code on copyscape.com but not sure. Cant remember what it is but its short and simple.

I seem to recall Matt Cutts saying that 'duplicate' content for different countries wasn't a problem.
Bear in mind - there is no 'penalty' for duplicate content, its just that you may be competing with yourself. Imagine two runners in a race punching and pulling at each other, while a third sails past.
As these two sites are not competing - they are targeting different markets - so there shouldn't be a problem.
