Can Lead Generation Through Multiple Sites Harm Rankings?

Hey,

The scenario is that: we still have many “Keyword Rich” domain names available in our niche. I would like to setup up 4-5 page websites on each these domain names. Then we could either place a banner pointing towards our main site OR can have a form which can collect the lead independently.

The benefits of having “Keyword Rich” domain names are indispensable and will help in generating organic traffic/leads for our business.

To reiterate, I am not doing this for link building but for lead generation only!

Am I doing the right thing? And will Google (or other search engines) be OK with this?

All suggestions are welcome.

I wouldn't use a banner for the link to your main site - use keyword rich anchor text.

As far as which method to use - I would do both. Put anchor text links to your main site but also put lead gen forms on your mini-sites.

But don't you think Google will consider all this interlinking to be "Linking Spam" and would eventually discount (or even penalize) the rankings of the main site?

The key, imho, is to ensure your main site has a sufficiently versatile backlink profile. Low-quality sites that link to one another can be identified as a 'bad link neighbourhood' and might result in ranking penalties.

But a varied link profile should stand up to scrutiny, and then adding links from these low-quality sites to your main site shouldn't harm you.

I think using the "No-Follow" tag while linking the micro sites to the main site would make Google (or other search engines) comfortable that it is not a "link building" activity?
