Two different businesses on one domain?

I have a high page rank "6" on my website.
Today, I created a page on my domain for my girlfriends (existing) real estate site. I connected to her php's, such as the MLS database as well as a few other database's. I know I can get this site way up there riding my coat-tails as opposed to her getting a new domain and starting from scratch in that competitive field. This is really working on me.

Could having a completely different business, description, keywords have potential page rank ramifications? Since unrelated to my primary business, will I get penalized in any way? Thanks, Mauidan

You're in the wrong forum for this advice, try the Google search [webmasterworld.com...] or general search engine promotion [webmasterworld.com...]

Have you created the new site as a subdomain such as newsite.example.com or as example.com/newsite?

I did example.com/newsite

Something like .. hawaiirentalcar.com/mauirealestate.htm

I am thinking with my page rank, by piggy backing I could get her to the top easier. But, if I run the risk of penalty, its not worth it. Thoughts?
I just posted in the Google search as well.

Would someone visiting the site expect to see the other businesses' content? If not, it should be on a separate domain.
