Hi
I have a web directory and I have a few questions for web directories owners. Do you approve or not this kind of sites?

1. group of sites (products, services, institutions) that belong to a main company/site
1.1 all sites link to each other
1.2 the main site links to each of its sites and sites link back to the main site but do not link to each other

2. group of sites with the same content for different countries or in different languages

3. websites with links/resources pages

4. websites with site wide links like "design by", "seo by", "powered by", "a * company", etc

Thanks.

Not a directory owner Never will be. Don't approve of them mostly, unless it was Yahoo or something.

That's a pretty tough question to answer. It could be questionS, but it looks like one big question to me.

Seems to me like you offer 4 web site scenarios and want to know which one I approve.

1. Approve. A multi-purpose web site.
2. Approve. A network of international sister web sites under the umbrella of a mother site
3. Disapprove. Standard Grey Hat optimized web site that accomodates linking partners
4. Approve. Web sites that have links to the web designer on every web page, probably in the footer

Directories these days do not get the same love they did back in the 1990s. If used as a launching pad for "company owned" websites in various languages with same or similar content, call it a portal (which is also so 1990s).

I do not see any boost possibilities as regards SEs. Other factors may come into play which might end with duplicate content, etc.

If each site is fresh and unique in presentation, even if regarding the same widget, then no problems.

OK, Thanks
But still,

1.1 all sites linking to each other, isn't that a link farm?

4. site-wide "design by" links, didn't the site owner pay for the site design, why does it have to link to the site's designer, it's like a house owner puts a "built by" sign on his/her house.
