duplicate descriptions

I’m acquiring about an e commerce store selling many brands each of which has many models; we don’t bother writing descriptions for each item since those who are looking usually know what they’re looking for when hitting our site; the only thing we do is that we write a short description of the brand and it shows up on each of their product; this results that each description shows up many times on 1 page and often on multiple pages;
Is this considered “duplicate content”? Should I consider removing all of that text and rather leaving it blank?
Thanks for your advice; I'm new here so if you have any suggestions I'll be glad to hear

In spite of "those who are looking usually know what they're looking for" having separately written descriptions would be most advantageous for you from a search engine optimization perspective. Take the time and write unique descriptions for each product. It'll be well worth your effort, a little extra work maybe but the search engines will appreciate it and so will the qualified visitors they send you.

Thanks for your reply but let me make it clear
I'm not talking about products details which is also not good presented but it does have style # and some minimum details; I'm talking about own written descriptions like "XYZ is highly used by all men and women who travel to Orlando it helps to keep you..." I write such words but one for every brand; now is my question:
till I decide to rewrite all of the descriptions (if it's important) "shall I remove the current descriptions? do they harm my ranking due to duplicate content?

They can't cause any more harm than what they have already. It's not so much that they've cause your rankings any harm, it's more like they haven't assisted in giving your webpages any additional value. May as well just leave them the way they are and start modifying them one at a time the sooner the better.
