I am preparing a list of tasks for SEO that has to be distributed internally within my team. I need your help in adding more to this list.

Here are the tasks I have listed till now:

1. On page Optimization (Will include optimization of content, keywords for existing articles)

2. Keyword research

3. Link Building (Forum posting, directory submission, blog comments, etc.)

4. Social Media (Submission on digg, facebook, twitter, etc)

Please help me build this list further.Thank you.. :)

anand84, is this for "applying" SEO techniques to existing pages, or for a checklist when designing new pages?

I'd flesh it out a bit:

1. SEO strategy (who are you going to be targeting, what initial themes?)

2. Keyword research (including competitive review)

3. Record current rankings (to measure future success)

4. On page optimisation

5. Create more content if necessary (if you don't have much content, you won't have much to rank for)

6. Link building

7. Social media

8. Conversion analysis: are some terms better than others for attracting users who actually buy stuff? Adjust SEO targets to optimize sales effectiveness (or other desired conversions).

We have a team of SEOs who work on optimizing our content portal. Now, we are trying to create a transparent environment whereby we know how much time was spent on different SEO activities (like link building, forum promotion, etc.) so that we can decide future strategies better based on what works and what does not work.

In that regard, I need to create a checklist on all possible activities that a SEO would do so that I may put that in my doc.

Search engine marketing comes in different shapes and forms: basic or in depth, on-page and off-page SEO, PPC management, multilingual SEO, XML feeds, etc.

@anand84 I think the general strategies laid out here are a good starting point for you.

Each point will have to have a set out checklists within them. For example, there's a whole range of on-page code stuff you can do, then a technology review as was mentioned, and then more marketing activities like forum posts, guest blog posts etc.
