I have a question about internal linking structure.
Is there any benefit or disadvantage in creating a text link on a page of your site pointing to that same page that the link is created on?
I feel that this is not a good strategy as the link really is useless from a user point of view. Surely Google will see this in the same light?
Can you please advise?
Thanks

From a usability viewpoint, Jakob Nielsen advocates not to link to the home page from the home page, as it confuses people.
As for Google, in my opinion such a link is worthless and should not affect PageRank, as Google just figures out that the page is linking back to itself. I don't see it as particularily harmful.
