Basically, I opened up a website and set up a wordpress blog with some good SEO plug ins etc. I researched some keyword phrases that I like and have barely any competition.

Now all I want to do is purchase some articles for those keywords and post on my blog. Thing is I need someone who understands in this stuff, to tell me what to do next, to get all the traffic. I basically want to rank high for those keywords,

How long do you think it will take?
How many backlinks should I start with?
Does anyone have any good tips for me ?

All your comments will be very much appreciated,

Regards,
Jake

It depends on various factors like domain age, content quality, keyword density, back links and various other factors. So to it is some what difficult to say how long it will take to achieve desired ranking with out knowing all these things.

If you can provide these detail then I can help you with your queries.

You mentioned that the keyphrases have little competition therefore it shouldn't require much of an effort beyond crafting some well-written, interesting articles that people would want to read. If it is worth reading, then the qualified, targeted traffic will find it.

Don't worry about links too much as most blog templates have a decent internal linking structure built-in and this should prove sufficient enough to satisfy any basic link requirements in your situation.

Ya, and write the blog articles yourself! Don't look elsewhere for writers otherwise it isn't really your blog.

Also keep in mind that this is a blog. Blog content can become stale over time. You will need to continue to update your blog with useful/interesting content to remain at the top of the serps. A good idea is to update you blog 1-2 times a week when it is new. No sense in publishing all your content right away, when nobody is reading it.
