I have a news media-related site that is six weeks old. It has over 300 original articles, getting around 3,000+ uniques a day, has an Alexa Ranking of between 50,000 - 100,000 for the week (around 100,000 overall) and a PR rank of 0. The PR is zero because we started after the last PR ranking.

We are having tremendous growth, with tons of people coming from all over.

My question is in regards to the Yahoo directory. Is it worth the money to pay to have it listed, since we are already growing so quickly? What would it do for me in the short term?

We're not in DMOZ yet either. But we have not submitted. Do they really pay attention to submissions?

if you are experiencing the tremendous growth as you have stated then there is no point in submitting your site to Yahoo! directory but yes, you should submit it two DMOZ=

I think buying a link in the Yahoo directory is always worth it, for the amount of money you spend you can't do much better.

Please elaborate on that statement semgold? In my experience, I saw zero effect on my traffic, organic, or from the directory itself, maybe 2 or 3 clicks per quarter, I don't recall exactly, but certainly the traffic was so small it might as well have not been there.

I didn't renew and my listing has stayed in place without me paying, so I coulnd't care less now.

From your description of the OP's success, I would say spend the money on beer, rather than pay Yahoo 300 Dollars for doing nothing.
