What alternatives are there to pagerank?

I was wondering if anyone knew a good list of alternatives to page rank. I have been doing some searches to try to find something that is like page rank. I would like to add something like it to my site. I would add page rank itself, but I have read that that violates google's terms of service, and I am using them for ads, so I don't want to do that.

I also looked at Traffic Rank from alexa, but I remember for the past, alexa shutting down some sites that used trafficrank.

So are there any good open source alternatives? Something where it gives a nice ranking, and their policy says have at it?

I'm not clear on what you want to achieve; you might just as well create a gif image saying '"#1 Site", or join one of those dreadful 'recommended site' programs (which all simply promote the site that started the program).

Unless your niche has a respected system of grading sites, what would be the point?

As for page rank and alexa, neither says anything about your site that's useful for visitors, and anyone who seriously cares about such rankings will already have a toolbar or six showing the rank. ;)

Basically I wanted to do it because I had a request from a user, and thought it would be a good idea.

My site [involves] seo, so people will be interested in page rank. It is a good point that people who do seo probably would be willing or already have a toolbar installed for pagerank. Maybe I can just post a good way to install one of the toolbars for seo people who haven't already installed one.
