What would I offer as an SEO "consultant"

Thinking about getting into it, but don't know what's practical

I've worked for a couple agencies and would like to do some side work. I know my craft but I haven't left the agency world - I'd like to know what many of you offer?

Would you offer consulting? If so, what would that entail? Something like a lawyer - you'd be on retainer to answer emails and SEO questions? Or charge per email/call?

What about reporting - that can get sticky when a client wants you to keep customizing reports or if you don't know the full functionality of their analytics package.

I've been thinking about just selling site analysis documents, keyword research, and content suggestions.

Quite few SEO's that I speak with are on a retainer - this entails work on a monthly basis and priority with any problems the site may suffer
