URL - which looks better to you

We are in the very last stage of a full redesign and I am still not postive of our mod rewrite urls and how they should appear.

Of these 3 choices which is the best pattern for the individual product urls contained in the Category below. Pretend this type of Widget is called Round.

Category is Widgets written www.aaa.com/widgets

1. www.aaa.com/product/Round-widgets

2. www.aaa.com/product/widgets-Round

3. www.aaa.com/product/Round

If we have 30 items under this category I am not sure if we should be mentioning the Catgeory "Widgets" name in all the urls contained in this category and if so in what order.

IMO, best would be:
www.aaa.com/product/widgets/round

... as that is the most hierarchcally accurate, and therefore easiest for both SE's and users to comprehend.

Absent the ability to do that, I'd go with 2. And I'd change "Round" to "round" (i.e., lower case).

What does the keyword research data suggest? Do users search for "round widgets", "widgets round", neither of these, or a different combo?

Research would be for round widgets, but really 90% would just be for the main category name " widgets " so if using the name again in each product url would deplete from the main category url's ranking I would eliminate it. If repaetingt the brand name in the urls the way it may be searched it best, i'll go with that site wide.

I agree with caveman
