Affiliate marketing leads to duplicate content problems?

Hello all,

I'm not quite sure whether this question makes much sense .. but as this is a discussion forum, I guess this is the best place to clarify my doubt.

As we know, in affiliate marketing, we entitle other websites to display our products and compensate them monetarily if anything turns up from them. If I'm the owner of an ecard site, the affiliate site would not have much option for making any modification of the content and has to display my products as it is.
But that could give rise to duplicate content issue from the view point of search engines.
What would be the remedy in this case?

An affiliate has to be able to describe the product differently, find other uses for it, find new traffic sources, or maybe just slap a banner on a high traffic site. Lots of ways to promote.

duplicate content is not a huge problem. just means that sometimes when an user searches your page may be thrown out, while your affiliate guy shows up.

if he ends up selling your card, i don't think you have a reason to complain about duplicate content.

Assuming your ecards even have enough content to be identifiable to the SE's, then as long as your site has decent authority and get crawled regularly, chances are you'll be the one ranking for most if not all of your own content.

You might also explore ways to make the ecards themselves unreadable, unless your issue has more to do with descriptive snippets, in which case, comments above apply.
