Hi,

this is a big problem, my client who was on top of search engine has been loosing ranking because a competitor is linking to his site from spam sites, that includes, junk links, #*$! links etc.

The problem is getting serious, some of the pages are already out of Google index.

any ideas what can be done here.

Regards,
Jaunty

that's impossible in my opinion.
your client must be doing sth else wrong.
we've made plenty of tests and even the most spammy links were unable to destroy a healthy site.

I felt the same,

but I can confirm this now, his websites have links from forbes, about, and a lot of other big websites.

and then there are these 100s of links from negative sites that have destroyed his ranking... his sites are not out they are just loosing ranking.

his sites are now on second page of google down from 1-5 position earlier.

Jaunty

I'm with idolw on this. If the site is healthy and otherwise has a good backlink profile -- which it does sound like your client's site has -- then links from spammers and scrapers won't hurt it. Face it, all -- all -- ranking sites are linked to from spammers and scrapers; if that's all it took to take healthy sites down there wouldn't be any top ten results ;-)

Sounds like it's time to dig in and do a complete site audit as well as analyzing what else might be happening in your client's space.
