bilalseo must be joking. Google, Yahoo, and Live/MSN are the biggest search engines in the US.

New web sites are always a big challenge if you don't have immediate incoming links. Before getting some links to your web site you should make sure if your web site is W3 w3 compatible. Go to [validator.w3.org...] to make sure all your pages are compatible. Then make sure the navigation of the web site is user friendly. Lastly and most importantly you must have a good content to be successful. So make sure your content is unique and exactly addresses what your visitors want.

These steps are important to that you do not regret anything in the future. If you have any errors you should fix them before search engines index you.

The least cost effective ways (free)are :

Submission to DMOZ [dmoz.org] This may take a long time.
If you are a member of any message board put your web site in your signature so that people can find you and link to your web site if you have a good content.
Write articles and submit them to article portals.

Try to exchange links with ONLY related sites not exceeding 5 link exchanges. (This maybe hard for the beginning since you will not have a zero PR rank.)

If you want a quick way, you should invest some money for advertising.

Sooner or later you will get incoming links and ranks if you have a decent content.

I think you have to use Stumbleupon.com, it could create more one way traffic for your website. Or you can also try digg.com delious.com, reditt.com, proppler.com etc for getting one way links and traffic too..

thanks,
