If I am launching an events based business across the country, do you think setting up multiple sites with similar content and similar domains is better than launching one site with pages dedicated to particular areas?

For example: www.newyork-namehere.com, www.boston-namehere.com VS www.namehere.com/new-york, www.namehere.com/boston/ etc.

Any thoughts?
