My site has about 300 or so pages, all of them without meta Keywords and Meta Description tags. I don't mind going through and adding them to each page if it will help in the search engines.

From what I've read, the Meta Keywords tag is generally worthless these days, and the Meta Description tag is useful only for specifying the description a search engine should use for your page. Does that sound about right?

Tonearm, the concencus on this forum is that meta keyword tags don't help at all with Google.

But do they help with other search engines?

A little over a year ago, there were posters on this forum who said that meta description tags were worthless as far as Google is concerned. When I mentioned that many of my Google search results were using the meta description tags from my pages, some people (I think) changed their minds.

I am by no means the most expert SEO specialist on this forum, although I've done very well.

My attitude is that if it can't hurt, but can possibly help, then do it.
