I am thinking of starting a website at a domain with 12 keywords in it--all separated by dashes.
Does anybody know if there are any drawbacks of loading up the domain name with so many keywords?
To clarify -- the whole purpose of the site is to be promoted via SEO alone. The site will have quite a few different things that it offers, and my only goal is search engine visibility, and not "branding" -- with that in mind, does anybody have any evidence or experience that having that many keywords will help or hurt in the SERP's?
Thanks,
Ben
12 keywords all separated by dashes screams "spam" to many people these days.
It's also easy to filter out. Over the past couple of years, I've seen fewer and fewer of these types of sites ranking well in the SERPs.
In addition, the need for multiple keywords in the domain has diminished. While it can still give you some boost, it is not nearly enough of a boost to go the route you are wanting.
A couple of words separated by a dash...sure... 12? Naaa...that's sooo two years ago. ;)
