I've started a blog that has a pretty specific topic. I plan to eventually implement some aff marketing or adsense if I ever get any traffic.

I'm wondering if blogging about stuff not related to the main topic is ok? Would it be better to start a second blog with a subdomain? I've seen a lot of blogs that have tons of topics that are not related and was wondering if that hurts/helps site traffic at all.

Will it annoy your readers who subscribe to your feed for a daily blast of your deep insights and witty observations about niche X to suddenly be treated to a discussion about something unrelated?

I subscribe to a technology blog because I'm interested in technology. I'm not interested in their favorite sports drink.

Some bloggers do write about general topics but I think there is a general theme that connects those topics, even if the theme is as simple as sarcasm.
