How much will this affect serp results having half the content dragged up from the mySQL database?

Not at all. Its important to remember that your visitors, including the bots, are not aware of what happens behind the scenes - all they get is the rendered html.
Caveats - when you have database problems, this will effect response time. If its bad enough you may deliver errors. That will effect your results.
