Hi, I have a directory with web site links in it, but the links don't appear as being on my site in search engines. Even though I know the pages are being searched the site maps are validated and the page information shows up in search engines just not the web site links. Anyone know why?

If by your links not appearing in SEs you mean you linked to example.com and did a seach on G for link:www.example.com, then there is nothing to worry about.

Google does not show you all the links from example.com, they like to keep their cards up their sleeve.

Thank you. Not quite sure when you say they like to keep them up their sleeve. What does that mean?

I mean I have web site links on my site. But when I put my web site name along with one of the web sites listed on my site nothing shows in google. A few of them show they are listed in my site on yahoo.

I meant google likes to keep us webmasters in the dark, so that we don't get too much insight and cannot manipulate the SERPs.

Ok, let me clear something; it is not the same to say your link is not showing when you do a link:www.example.com seach on google to see if you come up amongst the linking sites, as it is to say that their site does not come up under a search of site:www.yourdomain.com.

To make it clearer. Using the link:domain technike to see if you site comes up as a link to www.example.com is not at all acurate, and means very little.

If you search for example.com site:www.yourdomain.com. This is another matter. If this is the case it could mean a number of things:
1- your site could have deep levels so that pages are not getting crawled properly.
2- your pages may have many mistakes in the coding, avoiding spiders from getting to certain parts
3- your site may be new and is not considered trustworthy
4- those pages may have either not have been craweled and/or updated yet in the different datacenters.

Very interesting thanks for helping me. Yes I'm putting in my domain name along with example site link.com

When I do that they're links are not appearing on my site in google or msn but do in yahoo. So being in yahoo is a good sign at least. Maybe its because its new.....

Its been in google for a year is that considered new still?
Please let me know, thanks.
