I have a site with a default meta name "revisit-after" CONTENT="30 days"
What does this do for my site? Is it better to change/eliminate that line, as my content is updated daily.

That tag does absolutely nothing for your site, except to push your content down. The "revisit-after" tag was a proprietary tag used only by a single obscure directroy site, long since defunct.
Set your Expires headers to indicate the frequency of page updates.
