Is it o.k to have more than one h1 tag?

Will having more than one h1 tag be a problem with SEO?

I would like to put the same slogan on every page of my site using the h1 tag + keyword; and an h1 tag for each pages heading.
Is this o.k for SEO or should I just stick to only one h1 tag?

Not adviceable to have the same h1 tag on all the pages.Change the keyword.

I don't think it would be a good strategy to use the same H1 tag on every page. Furthermore, I don't think it is logical to have more than 1 h1 tag on a page. That's just my personal opinion, though.

I think that content still rules the day.

I therefore try to move extraneous stuff to the background, literally. I tend to put logos, slogans, etc. into a background image. Ideally, an SE will see

<body>
<div class="header">
<h1>page subject</h1>
...

when it visits the page. In this way there is no room for confusion about what the page is about.

Only one h1 per page.

On my site, i've got one H1 tag, and TWO H2 tags, only to separate the two kinds of completely different, but related, types of product catagories we have.

I was told this was acceptable, since the H1 tag has both key words, then followed by an H2 with keyword one, and a bunch of supporting text. then an H2 with keyword two, with supporting text to follow.
