If your site is run through a database, like a CMS or a blog, then you can re-purpose the content and generate your feed automatically. Most CMS and blog packages will offer this feature as standard these days.

What other type of way were you thinking of? There are a bunch of 3rd party services that claim to convert your page content to RSS. I haven't used any, so I cant recommend one.

I wasn't thinking of any, I just wondered if there was a better way to do it. I only added RSS because when i started to use those big AddThis buttons i wanted to have more than just facebook and twitter.

I'm not sure that RSS is a big help, although I think some advertisers who run ads on our site thru a third party, may use it to see how often the site is updated. Otherwise I don't see much benefit from RSS. Could you help me out there - on what top benefits are?

Compared to FaceBook and Twitter? They're different things altogether...but I have seen FB and Twitter accounts used much like an RSS feed. All they do is announce site updates. You can do that with an RSS feed as well.

Whether RSS is beneficial for your site's visitors is of course up to you. In general it's a means of syndicating your content and notifying your feed subscribers of changes to your site.

What about Feedburner and maybe similar products? what does it do?

Feedburner makes it easy to track your feed's audience and reach. Google's Feedburner has extensive help documents online that you can review for in-depth information about their features.
