Is Rss aggregator considered duplicate content?

is having a site that collects articles from various

is having a site that collects articles from various specialized sites e.g.:sports considered having duplicate content
the articles are totally copied but with referring links to the author

We've had a number of threads asking about RSS being treated as duplicate content [google.com].

That content will be considered duplicate and in most cases it will be filtered from the SERPs. This isn't a penalty. It's just that you won't rank for someone else's syndicated content.
