You see a lot of hype around about getting this tool or that tool for dynamically including up to date news on your site, many are free, and some costly. What I'd like to know is whether, in reality, on-topic (i.e. keyword targetted) feeds help boost your site's rankings with G, et. al. I'm sure they help with spidering and avoiding becoming stale, but that has not been a problem for me.
So, bottom line, do rss feeds on your site truly help elevate rankings in keeping with the hype.
Additionally, consider that syndicate a feed increase the promotional channels to gather popolarity for your website.
For example, there are feed focused directories where you can submit your site only if you provide an XML feed.
Whether there is any SEO benefit is sort of vague, with varying views. One camp says that syndicated feeds are nothing but duplicate content, thus negating any possible SEO advantage. Others seem to think that ongoing freshness confers a benefit.
I guess, there's really no difinitive answer, except for the totally positive assurances of SEO marvels you see in hyped up pitches to purchase the appropriate software.
If anyone has other thoughts on this, I'd love to hear them.
