RSS leaders, trade shows and conferences

Trying to make contacts to establish a dialog

I am interested in rss from both syndication and aggregation perspectives. Who (individuals, groups and companies) are the major influences? Are the major / minor trade shows, conferences, or informal get-togethers? My goal is to establish some relationships for ongoing dialog in this area. Can someone recommend a few starting places?

The most official body having to do with the RSS protocol would probably be the RSS Advisory Board [rssboard.org].

There have been a few RSS conferences put on by various organizers. A lot of it has been tied to blogger related conferences. I'm not sure what/where the big RSS conferences will be this year.
