Are some sites only Atom?

I'm having someone build me a "news site" and I need to understand something: Are there sites (like blogs) that only supply an Atom feed, and no RSS?

There are plenty of scripts that do RSS, but only some that do both RSS and Atom. If I could knew that I could always expect to find an RSS feed (or at least 95% of the time), it will help me make my decision on choosing the script.

I see blogger is Atom only. That sucks. That's a big part fo the market.

I can understand that there may be less generator programs that handle both RSS and Atom, but why is that an issue? From the user side just about every aggregator/reader can read both formats. Just generate one one format or the other and you're covering most of the market.

I' not generating the feeds. I'm having a script written that will parse them. And most only parser RSS.

Just add /rss.xml to the blogspot.com url - Blogger do Atom and Rss feeds now. I've not seen it announced officially but the RSS feeds are there.

Maybe, but not the only site that is doing atom only, and not the only end user that would rather see the atom version rather than the rss version of a feed.
