He received his M.D. degree at René Descartes university from whence he graduated in 1984. Upon completion of his dermatology residency at St. Louis hospital, he took up a fellowship under Dr. Bernard Ackerman at New York University Medical Center. Over the past several years, Dr. Abimelec has been involved in teaching courses at Lariboisière, St. Louis and Pitié-Salpétrière teaching hospitals in Paris. In addition, he has lectured in Europe and North America at universities and medical conventions including at the American Academy of Dermatology and at the European Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Abimelec’s academic work relating to nail diseases has been presented at professional meetings and published in peer-reviewed medical journals. Active in a variety of professional societies, Dr. Abimelec is a fellow of the Société Française de Dermatologie, the American Academy of Dermatology, the British Association of Dermatologists, the Canadian Dermatology Association, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American society for laser medicine and surgery, the European Hair Research Society, the European Nail Society.
