First thing first. Why do you want more followers? Is it to sell something? To promote a business? To establish a brand? a notoriety? Is it to gain "popularity" for later hoping to earn money with product placement? Is it just to build a community to share things? etc...

I think you need to make a lot pin boards that are relevant to your industry and start pinning content in those. Also, you can switch your personal account to business for better experience.

Creative content is the most proven factor to be successful in Pinterest. Use eye-catching colors and images and try highlight the text. Use keywords in the pin title which are relevant to your pin also add keywords in your pin description (but don't stuff keywords in the description).
