Researchers Find Vulnerabilities in 4G and 5G

According to research being presented at the Network and Distributed System Security Symposium in San Diego on Tuesday, 4G and 5G are vulnerable with calles being intercepted and the location of user location can be exposed.

Anyone would think that 5G would be a significant leap forward over 4G and the vulnerabilities wouldn't cross the divide, but it seems not.

The bad actors are everywhere. That said, the signal bands are not the problem. The security (cost of) embedded in the devices is what creates the loophole because if the device is too expensive, there won't be a "market" that can be profited.

Cellular towers are as obvious as rail road tracks. One knows where the traffic is going to pass, how it is going to pass, and what kind. Makes it easier to intercept.
