Finally, the elimination of mobile phone roaming charges today, 15 June, 2017 for E.U. citizens travelling to any of the 28 countries of the region.
I can now leave my data turned on as I travel from country to country in the E.U. and not come back to horrendous roaming charges.

And what about, when the UK will no longer be part o the EU? (teasing :))

hehe, I knew someone would ask. The answer is that nobody knows until the end of the negotiations and even then, it could remain, or go.

That's the moment at which Scotland says “I have to pay to use my phone in Aberdeen? All right, that does it, I‘m outta here and this time I mean it.”

And with politicians being politicians, it wouldn't surprise me if they would then decide to retroactively charge roaming fees to Brits. :)

I am on holiday in Portugal right now from the UK and it does make a difference.

I thought roaming fees were a thing of the past everywhere. Until just now, I hadn't heard the term in years.

If there's a way to make them pay the providers will nickle and dime unto death. Nature of the beast. Sometimes it does take a gubermint (sic) reg to even the marketplace (not often, but sometimes!)
