The latest WiFi CERTIFIED standard means faster and better performance, including Multi-user Multiple Input Multiple Output (MU-MIMO).

The proliferation of many more devices connected to WiFi can often compromise performance. This new standard goes towards resolving this, with an eye to the future as even more devices become WiFi-enabled.

So I guess by the time this expanded standard is widely supported, it will probably be time to replace our routers and mobile devices anyway.

And if I purchased a WiFi certified router would my (fairly new) mobile phone support the signal, or would I need to get a phone with a chipset that is WiFi certified ?

Yup, as I thought...
