I have a client who is getting about 1 bar in her basement office and 1-2 bars in an outside area where she would like to do some work.
I used opensignal on my phone to locate the towers. The tower we seemed to be locking on to is about a 3/4 of a mile away. HOWEVER, her fieldstone house with 2 2' plus exterior walls and another 2' interior stone wall is between her outside location and the tower. 6+ feet of stone has somewhat of a negative effect on signal stregnth. Her basement office is blocked by an exterior and interior stone wall plus the floorboards and is possibly out of the line of site of the tower.
My thought was to put a repeater in the attic near the window facing the tower. I should have gone up there but that is probably the best line of sight that is not trying to go through fortress like walls.
Does anyone have any experience with these? Does anyone know if they come with a setup where you can have the receiving antenna in one place and the transmitter in another? (I'm not sure how easy it would be to do that though since running antenna wire would be problematical.)
Would a single unit work in this case?
I'd really appreciate any input..
One final thought. This is a suburban area with lot sizes of about 1/8 acre. Would neighbors be able to use this and, if so, would that degrade her performance?
thanks
