I used tablet computer to write this post and, although convenient, it took me way longer than if i was on my desktop or laptop.

Im waiting for win 8.1 and will acquire a new machine for home use, and will probably do the same for other machines at the office.

Theres no doubt the tablet is a must have acquisition for many, but its benefits are clear if youre only on email and social media.

Tablet shipments are projected to grow 45 percent from this year to reach 332.4 million in 2015, compared with an estimated 322.7 million for PCs, according to Framingham, Massachusetts-based IDC. re the title ...unsurprised..expect it to happen sooner ..mid 2014..

I'd say 99% of those ( non corp or business user ) currently accessing the internet via computers ..
Could move to tablets and or phones tomorrow..and find their experience was enhanced rather than suffered ..but probably not if they were using win 8 :) ( using win8.1 remains to be seen )..android or apple interfaces are much more user friendly to those coming from computers..

It's not like people are buying one or the other... People will buy mobile devices more frequently as they are more likely to have shorter lifespans than PCs. Also the update treadmill is much faster these days, so I'm not surprised either.
