In previous generations of the iOS I could link to the phone's map app using a link like [maps.google.com...]

In iOS 6 Apple removed the Google Maps app and now the link opens the corresponding Google Maps website which I find sluggish and not as useful as a native app.

I've converted my links to [maps.apple.com...] to open in the new Apple Maps (on devices with it, or to the Google Maps website if it does not).

Is there anyway in opening up the new Google Maps app if a user clicks on a link?
