I guess the numbers sold on the previous version was low, but four times the level is at least some progress. I've yet to see someone using a windows phone.

I'll look out for them and i'll ask them how they are getting on with it.

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) is selling four times as many Windows phones as this time last year, helped by a new version of its phone software for more powerful handsets with faster screens, Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer said.

“Windows Phone 8 has been on sale for a few weeks and is off to a great start,” Ballmer said at a shareholders’ meeting today. Handsets made by HTC Corp. iirc the numbers correctly, Windows phones sales last time were 1.6% to 2% of all phone sales so this means Windows phone 8 would be something less than 8% of all phone sales. Like you, I've never seen one either, and I intentionally look for them.

You have to be careful cause Microsoft's claim of 4 million Surface PC sales turned out to be 4 million ordered for production and only 2 million sold with retailers returning or canceling orders.
