Praise and awe at sales figures rubs me the wrong way so take this with a grain of salt (and a grain of truth)

I just looked out the window, the world hasn't changed for the better yet. Maybe another 4-5 million units next month will do it.

How many units are in the hands of the education deprived in other countries who could get a WHOLE lot more use out of them? Now when THAT number reaches 8.1 million I'll be impressed. I measure a company on what it doesn't do just as much as on what it does.

What purpose would it serve to put iPads in the hands of people that a) don't have wifi and b) often don't have electricity and c) obviously don't have the internet available to them?

However, last week I got the chance to witness the power of iPad in action.

Some lady waiting for a table at a restaurant sat there playing some obnoxious games on her iPad. Everyone around her got to watch her sitting there tapping, beating, pounding and shaking it for a solid 30 minutes before being seated.

If that's the future, stop the planet, I want to step off.

If they sell 2 million more in the next 60 days, then that's impressive. RBC Capital Markets obviously doesn't think things will slow down, they're predicting nearly a million per month throughout 2010. Personally, I think they're 2 million too high, but what do I know.

I could sell 2 million of anything If I could get the free publicity (worth millions and millions) from TV and magazines for any new product - which is exactly what seems to happen with Apple and Sony.

Then, of course, you make sure there's a (cough cough) shortage right off the bat, to make people go absolutely nuts for whatever 'it' is.

I'm always amazed by the amount of free press apple seem to manage to generate.

On the day that Indy Mac Bank failed, precipitating more crises in the lending world, it was a minor side story on CNN.com. The number one story on CNN.com was "Will the US be able to cope with a foreign owned Budweiser?".

turn them over and you've got a handy tray. Wireless food recepticles! Is there anything iPads can't be used for? Think not.

Haha, nobody brought recipes. One did have a really cool wireframe app that he used to do some page mockups, the rest of us used a traditional whiteboard.
