Opera software have recently submitted an iPhone specific version of Opera Mini to the Apple apps store. It is worth noting that Apple have had a history of rejecting apps that compete with their own products. Apple may argue that Safari is a key component of the iPhone OS.
Opera where also one of the lead players in the battle to impose browser choice in Europe at the expense of Microsoft. Will Apple break with tradition and applod an app that is in direct competition with Safari into the App store.

It is worth noting that Opera Software have also made movies of the Opera Mini running on the iPhone available on Youtube. Perhaps this is very clever marketing. Letting potential users want the application before submitting it to the App store.
This will be interesting.
