The survey showed that Japan was also far ahead of the rest of the G-7 countries in offering next-generation access broadband networks, with fiber-to-the-building becoming available to 85 percent of the population by the end of 2007 compared with an average of just 5 percent of households in the European countries having access to high- speed broadband.
