Javascript is pretty much out for ad delivery and if advertisers do not have a mobile compatible site then it can be almost pointless sending a visitor there.
I've yet to see a mobile compatible site with any clear revenue potentials.
Even if you don't have a use case for conventional browsing, many mobile sites have the ability to do configuration through a conventional browser. This can be much more convenient for the user than to fiddle with configuration over a mobile device.
Following on from jtara:
I now have two completely different "faces" for my main site, for desktop and mobile. The structure and content is the same, but the mobile version is hugely paired down to be usable on mobile.
I am getting some revenue directly from the mobile side, but I expect it to remain the poor cousin of the desktop view for a while yet.
