On the sort of devices that would go to a shiny new .mobi domain (!) is HTTP session handling reliable now?
In WML 1.0 days it was shakey at best, and generally handled by the wireless gateway.
Now, do mobile devices capable of handling XHTML also handle the sessions, cookies, etc, themselves?
I know there is no absolute answer, and my site works fine without a session, but it is useful for (eg) a user to select a language (en/fr/de/es/zh) other than the default their phone asks for with an "accept" header, if any.

Can not answer if all User Agents (mobiles) support it, details can for each mobile probably can be found on wurfl.sourceforge.net
Given that I'm talking about XHTML-supporting devices, not just WAP1, surely this cannot be true? For example, the embedded Opera in my Nokia Communicator won't give a flying fig for those protocols, and is just talking HTTP over TCP/IP directly to the Web servers?
