Vivaldi's CEO, Jon von Tetzchner, calls upon Microsoft to stop its anti-competitive practices over Microsoft Edge browser.

The issue with Windows 10 upgrade resetting the default browser to Edge is a known one, and a lot has been said about it previously. I refrained from making any comments until now, but my patience has run out. Vivaldi Wants Microsoft to Stop Anti-Competitive Practices over Edge [vivaldi.net]

von Tetzchner said, "It is time to do the right thing. Stop stealing the default browser, accept user choice and compete on the merits."

Personally, I haven't had this problem mentioned, but that doesn't mean it's not happening. Anyone else had this issue?

I don;t use Edge because it's not intuitive, imho.

I didn't get the problem either, and never noticed "reset" of the default browser.

I use Edge, only to verify that my site is displaying correctly.

I think I had this issue after an update some time ago, maybe in the summer last year or earlier. AFAIR, normal resetting didn't work, I had to look up some solution and then it worked.

I use Edge to test my sites as a logged-out user, because I kind of like the interface with the large address bar and flat design. However, the functionality is rather crude and the CSS inspector is not as convenient as in Firefox or Chrome.

Vivaldi is not a bad browser, but it is the only browser that I have tested which has serious problems with Cloudflare's Rocket Loader. They should improve and I think they have some potential.

I agree. My browser did not reset to Edge when I upgraded to Win10 nor with the Anniversary update. Alternative facts?

Maybe it only happened if IE was set as the default browser?

^^ good catch! I had this problem with two clients livid they could not keep their "browser of choice" as the default.

Powershell was a great help. :)

Only this weekend I received a small (unobtrusive) popup prompt over the top of the Edge logo about Microsoft using Edge. It did not change any settings.
